Acknowledging and celebrating your grant

By accepting our funding, you agree to publicly acknowledge both the Memorial Fund and the UK government – here we show you how.

What is grant acknowledgement?

In its simplest form, acknowledgement is including our logo, the Funded by UK government logo and where possible, our acknowledgement statement, on all activity associated with the heritage we’ve funded. This could include interpretation panels, your website, newsletters and other communications.

How prominently you acknowledge your grant should reflect how much funding you’ve received. For example, a large award of £500,000 or more will need a higher level of acknowledgement than a smaller one.

Download the toolkit and logos to acknowledge and celebrate your grant.

Where to acknowledge your grant

You should acknowledge your grant anywhere the public will see or hear about it.

All the heritage we fund is different, so not everything in the toolkit will be relevant to you. Places we normally expect you to acknowledge your grant include:

  • websites, social media, newsletters and videos
  • press releases and media interviews
  • corporate materials such as annual reports
  • at relevant events
  • signage for buildings, structures and outdoor spaces
  • artefacts, exhibitions, exhibits and displays
  • banners and signage

How to use our name

Use National Heritage Memorial Fund in full in titles, headlines and in the first mention in speeches or interviews.

If you need to mention us again you can use Memorial Fund or the Memorial Fund. When writing our name this way, use a lowercase 't' on 'the'.

Do not use abbreviations like NHMF.
