The Hoxne Treasure is one of the largest Roman treasures ever to have been discovered in Britain. The treasure was buried in the 5th century CE and found by farmer Eric Lawes at Hoxne in Suffolk in 1992. It is the richest find of treasure from Roman Britain. Approximately 15,000 coins and many other precious objects were buried for safety at a time when Britain was passing out of Roman control. It was acquired by the British Museum, where it is on display.
